The Early Years Foundation Stage
Children follow the new “Early Years Foundation Stage” Curriculum, September, 2012 (EYFS).

“The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is outstanding. This is the result of outstanding leadership and management, excellent teaching and learning and a warm, stimulating environment. Standards of care are exceptionally good”. (Ofsted 2008)

The curriculum is organised into 3 main areas of learning:

  • Communication and development – speaking, listening and understanding
  • Physical development – moving, health and self-care
  • Personal, social and emotional – self-confidence, managing feelings and behaviour and developing relationships

These areas are underpinned by activities for;

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design
